A LIMOUSIN steer has netted one of the industry's youngest stars more silverware at this year's Ekka prime cattle competition.
Billy Goetsch from Goetsch and Sons Auctioneers and Reality, Kalbar, added the grand champion single steer at this year's competition to his 2022 FarmFest led steer championship.

The same steer, which weighed 703 kilograms in last Thursday's Ekka prime cattle competition at Silverdale, got the job done both times and went on to top the sale at $3237 after impressing competition judge Matthew Noakes, Bottletree, South Mornish.
As well as a broad ribbon, the steer was also awarded with the Maud and Ernest White Memorial Trophy for most successful exhibitor aged 30 years or younger.
Much like his FarmFest victory, Bill was holding down the fort for his family's business and was not present, in turn leaving the job of collecting his awards to his father Neil, who said the victories were the result of plenty of hard work.
"Bill has put a lot of work into getting this steer ready, so for it to be purchased by The Butcher Co for that kind of price is really gratifying," he said.
"He's tickled pink."
Mr Goetsch said they had not taken any cattle to this year's Ekka because of recent wet weather and uncertaintly around COVID.
The Beaudesert Times has followed Bill's career since he was 13-years-old and won the Lightweight Champion Carcasse and the Eating Quality Award in the Led Steer section at the 2016 Ekka.
Mr Goetsch said his son was working for the family company as an auctioneer.
"He's working for us part time for us in the auctioneer business and also part time for a welding guy building horse stables and stuff," he said.
"But he still enjoys the cattle side of things."
The 19-year-old would now prepare to display at the Beaudesert Show in September.
"He's got a couple of young ones he's breaking in so we'll probably bring them to the Beaudesert Show for a breaking in run," Mr Goetsch said.
"Beaudesert prime cattle's on as well so we'll be heading there with a few too."
