RATHDOWNEY NEWS
RADHA /INFORMATION CENTRE The next RADHA meeting will be tomorrow night at the Information Centre at 7.30. The end of the financial year brings a busy time for staff at the Centre. Stock taking has been underway making way for the auditors' visit and the Annual Meeting that is usually held in September. There is a lovely supply of locally hand knitted items- beanies, booties (adults) and scarves on the shelves at the moment. These are just what is wanted on these cool mornings and afternoons. There are also lovely scarf pins in stock. These are a new item and are made in Victoria. There are also glasses pins that you can hang your glasses on when not needing them on your face. There are birds, animals, flowers and shapes that look great on the hand- knitted scarves. Our local jam, pickles and relish producers have been busy and their products along with macadamia nut products, rocky road and honey make a colourful display on the shelves.
RADHA wishes to thank the Commonwealth Government for providing the museum with funds to procure a new notebook, external hard drive and program so that there will a digital record kept of museum items. Entering the records will be a time consuming job.

RATHDOWNEY HALL upgrade update
There was a working bee at the hall last Saturday afternoon to sort out some of the crockery etc. that has accumulated over the last 100 years. The P&C won't know themselves when they come to catering for the Theatre Restaurant at the end of the month. There is still some plumbing to be done in the kitchen and disabled toilet and floor coverings to go down. It's a far cry to when supper was prepared in a room under the stage and passed up through a small doorway to be carried around to hall for patrons. Recently I received an enquiry regarding the recipe for one of the sandwich fillings that Rathdowney was noted for. People loved it - Margaret's Hash!
RMG There will not be a Memorial Grounds meeting this month as Office Bearers have other commitments. The meeting will be held over until August on the 3rd Thursday night. Plans for the new amenities block have been received.
CRAFT AND CHATTER GROUP/CUPPA-TEA
Last week six ladies met in the Barn for a couple of hours of friendly companionship. The morning was beautiful with a clear blue sky and warm winter sunlight. Everyone is invited to join in and have a pleasant morning from 9.30 until approximately 12.30. Some like to bring some craft activity that they are working on while others just come to meet friends and neighbours and have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee. There are no costs involved and no meetings. On July 28 the group is supplying morning tea at the Cuppa-t marque at the Post Office. Come along and enjoy an hour in the fresh air. The library van will be there with a selection of reading matter and the Council has a table of give-aways and information pamphlets. You can leave your old batteries, mobile phones, chargers, spectacles etc for recycling. This is funded by Qld Gov Mental Health and Wellbeing Community Package under Queensland Economic Recovery Strategy.

WOW Ladies of Rathdowney and surrounds are invited to meet at the hotel on the last Wednesday of the month for dinner. Meet and Greet and meal ordering is from 6.00pm. It would be nice to have a few more turn up but the half dozen who do go usually enjoy the meal and a friendly get together.
OP SHOP
The Op Shop opens every Saturday morning from 10.00 and on the Thursday of the Cuppa-ti from 12.00 noon. Drop in and help Lesley get some of her stock off the shelves. People are very generous with their donations. Local groups benefit from the money raised from sales. The community library is also is now at the Op Shop. For those dropping goods off to be sold there is a small shed located at the front door.
SWIM CLUB
The Swim Club welcomes new members. Membership forms are available from Carol 0457474888 or from the school office. Night performances will be held on July 29 and 30 and a matinee on Saturday July 30. The performance this year will be 'We are Revolting'. A madcap comedy about seniors seeking revenge.

COMMUNITY NOTICES BOONAH
TEMPLIN HISTORIC MUSEUM
This week Iris Skinner writes: Templin has hosted another Restoration Car Club. As they visited on a Sunday our volunteers were able to demonstrate many of the machinery pieces. The cars also drew an extra audience. We then welcomed interested members of the general public. A very busy day, but well worth it. Two independent donations have not only added to Templin's garment collection but, because of the families involved, their stories will now add to the history of the Scenic Rim. One involves BEES.
Beaudesert Museum is currently assembling an historical Exhibition. The other is a great family link to the establishment of the Templin School. To go forward, we need to look back at these pioneers, who against the odds, established education and industries that have stood the test of time. The foundations these two families established now benefit the world.
The very kind lady who delivered yesterday's donation, comes from the family who developed the Murray Grey Breed of cattle. Australia's own breed. This is what Museums are about. They record the actual evidence of history.

Museum hours are Sundays from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Group bookings and bus tours are very welcome. Phone 0475 615 827.
FRIDAY FLICKS
The Friday Flick at Boonah Cultural Centre on Friday July 15 at 10am, 1pm and 7pm, will be The Drover's Wife (MA 15+), starring Leah Purcell, Rob Collins, Sam Reid, Jessica de Gouw. In 1893, heavily pregnant Molly Johnson and her children struggle in isolation to survive the harsh Australian landscape after her husband left to go droving sheep in the high country.
One day, she finds a shackled Aboriginal fugitive named Yakada wounded on her property. As an unlikely bond begins to form between them, he reveals secrets about her true identity. Realising Molly's husband is actually missing, new town lawman, Nate Clintoff, starts being suspicious and sends his constable to investigate. The deadly encounters between Molly, the constable and Yakada, results in a tragic chain of events with Molly becoming a symbol of feminism and anti-racism.
Running time: 108 minutes. Adults $10; Students and Concession $7.50. No trailers; movies start at the advertised screening time. Tickets to be purchased at the door.
