IN good news for fans of rugby union, the Beaudesert Warriors are looking to make a comeback this season.

Warriors president Brent Kohlhagen said the club took a hammering when COVID hit, with the home field at Everdell Park laying dormant for the whole of last season.

Kohlhagen said the Warriors had a rich history in Beaudesert.

"The club has been running continuously since about 1984," he said.

"Last year was the first year we didn't field a team at all and we're looking to restart, to rejuvenate the club.

"We've had some interest from seniors and we just about have enough to form a team but we are also starting a junior sevens comp.

"It will be a little localised competition between Beaudesert, Yarrabilba and Tamborine."

Kohlhagen said the club was also hoping to hear from rugby union fans willing to give their time as volunteers or junior coaches.

"We're just calling out for interest at the moment to try and get the club up and running again, to bring rugby union back to the Beaudesert area," he said.

Kohlhagen said he hoped to hear from children wanting to play anywhere from U7s to U13s. Anyone interested in taking part is asked to contact Warriors president Brent Kohlhagen on 0428 482 329.
