Two year old rushed to hospital with critical injuries after being hit by car

Toddler hit by car at Boonah

EMERGENCY services have responded to reports of a two-year-old boy in a serious condition after being hit by a car on Church Street, Boonah.

Queensland Ambulance initially reported that a rescue chopper had been deployed to airlift the child to hospital but a spokeswoman said the weather was not optimal for transporting a patient.

The spokeswoman said the toddler had been taken by ambulance to Boonah Hospital with critical care paramedics and high acuity response team on board.

She said the child would likely be transferred to another hospital.

The incident happened at 4.11pm yesterday.

The child suffered life-threatening head injuries and was later airlifted to the Children's Hospital.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said Church Street was closed to traffic after the accident.
