BEAUDESERT Cricket Club's division two seniors travelled to Homestead Park to play Springwood on the weekend.

Club manager Leigh Morgan said Beaudesert batted first, with openers Carl Johnston (21) and Hamish Tilney (19) getting Beaudesert off to a great start before Stuart Groom piled on 72.

Luke Bostock was 45 not out and Ben Holley scored 26. In reply, Springwood got off to a shaky start, with Jim McClure striking early to have the home side 3/20 after 10 overs.

Ben Holley, Darcy Riddle, Greg Wilkie and Carl Johnston continued to take wickets to have Springwood 10/102 off 29.1 overs.

McClure (3/8), Riddle (3/20) and Holley (2/25) were the pick of the bowlers for Beaudesert.

"Carl Johnston and Ben Holley took two catches, while Jim McClure and Kieran Walsh took one," Morgan said.

"It was a great contribution by juniors for a great win."

The stage 2C juniors went to Chatswood this week to take on Springwood Suns Fusion, and after losing the toss, were sent into bat.

The side found batting very difficult against some strong bowling, but lasted almost 30 overs to end up with 7/67.

Top scorers were Archie Foster (16), Nick Stephens (12) and Max Foster (5). Springwood had little difficulty chasing down Beaudesert's score, reaching a total of 5/187.

Stephens finished with 2/23, Will Watson-Siely with 1/36 and Jack O'Neill with 1/45.

"Although Springwood passed our score early on, the boys continued playing with great enthusiasm and spirit to take some late wickets and end the day on a positive note despite the loss," Morgan said.
