TWO Scenic Rim outdoor activities providers, Mount Barney Lodge and Kooralbyn Mountain Bike Festival organisers On the Edge Events, have been nominated for a Brisbane City Council Outdoor Event Award.

Mount Barney Lodge is in line for recognition after hosting the Scenic Rim Adventure Festival in March.

Co-owner Tracey Larkin said the festival went ahead despite a severe storm warning for south-east Queensland.

"The event was a great success, even though it rained on opening night," she said.

"We had systems in place to deal with that and they held up well.

"We did cancel high altitude activities but we had people signing on for the alternate program and got heaps of feedback from people saying they had a great time and they hoped we would hold it again. We will be doing that, but this time over the May long weekend to try and avoid the April rains."

On the Edge Events director Andrew Bonney said it was an honour to be nominated.

"We were quite surprised with being nominated and becoming a finalist in the awards," he said.

"It is great to be recognised for all the hard work we do and have put in to bring top quality events to the Scenic Rim."

The award winners will be announced via an online presentation on October 29.
