TEMPLIN HISTORIC MUSEUM
Our report from Templin Historic Museum this week is written by Iris Skinner:
Again in lockdown and Templin was unable to open for two Sundays.
Templin School has been painted inside and out.
All the display items are being cleaned.
This has stimulated a great interest in the previous epidemics that the pioneering families had to face. Reading in the school history book tells us about dealing with typhoid.
The horrible effects of dysentery. How did parents deal with whooping cough, diphtheria, mumps prior to triple antigen injections?
The old graves tell us of that horror. Many older people would remember polio. Perhaps the most horrific was the Spanish flu.
When it came to Australia no one was safe. Now with better communications, cleanliness and working as a team we are trying to care for each other.
Now is a good time to clean out your bookshelves in readiness for this year's Bookfest which will be held on November 13 and 14. Proceeds help with equipment for the Boonah Library. Donate now.

The Covid pandemic has certainly thrown all into confusion.
Lock-downs,cancellation of the Ekka, the Beaudesert Show and our local country markets. It is strange to go to the supermarket and see faces covered by a mask.
However, it is surprising just how many old friends we are able to recognise.
There were 10 members at the meeting on Thursday night.
Business cards have been printed and the football trophies that had been stored in the hotel ceiling have been retrieved.
They looked sorry but have polished well.
As soon as a display cabinet can be obtained they will be housed in the museum.
An interesting find in one of the boxes was a cricket trophy for Palen Creek in 1938.
