BEAUDESERT University of the Third Age is holding a first aid course this weekend.

U3A's Cheryl Folley said the course would be held on Saturday, July 17 from 8 am to around 1.00 pm at Jymbilung House, 9-13 Summerfield Drive Beaudesert.

"The course, subsidised by U3A for group tutors, will be conducted by Mick Kajewski, who runs first aid and CPR courses as well as operating the Beaudesert pool in summer," she said.

"The eight participants have been studying theory and will sit the theory test via email before turning to the practical work on Saturday."

Ms Folley said the course was arranged at the request of John Leatherbarrow, who ran the summer aqua-aerobics course and also the current U3A Exercise in the Park group in Jubilee Park weekly.

The idea came when Mr Leatherbarrow realised the group in the park did not have ready access to a first aid helper if the need arose.

Volunteers from several activities joined the first aid class.
