CARINITY Fassifern Community Centre has set up a table tennis group at Boonah.

The group meets every Friday afternoon and welcomes beginners and more advanced players of the game.

Sharon Wallace from Aratula, who runs the group with Rob Wigginton, said the sport was great for exercise, coordination and stamina.

"It's something young people, older people and those with a disability can enjoy," she said.

"We teach them to play table tennis, but they also develop social skills, learn teamwork and make social connections.

"We have two younger people with disabilities who we teach every Friday.

"These two 17-year-olds we're teaching are now great mates who enjoy playing together as a team against us older players."

The table tennis group meets each Friday from 1.30pm to 3pm.

Ms Wallace said it was free to play, all equipment was provided, and everyone was welcome. For more information contact Sharon Wallace on 0444 593 778.
