Kingfishers U12 team played at Nerang on the weekend for their third game of the season, coming home with the win.
Coach Kristie Page said the victory against Currumbin Silver was due to a combination of teamwork, strong defense and commitment to the game plan.
"In the first half there were three tries scored and in the second half there were six, five by the Kingies and one by Currumbin," she said.
"The final score was 8-1.
"The game began with a great catch from the fullback, Clancy. On the final tackle of this first set, Cooper sent a kick towards the sideline where Clancy's sure hands caught the ball and scored in the second minute of the game.
"The second try was scored during the ninth minute with Jack putting on the afterburners to take an intercept, run 20 metres and put the ball down under the uprights.
"Jack scored the third try by finding the gaps in the Currumbin defense and running a great distance. These tries came off the back of some great hit ups by the forward pack that rattled the Currumbin attack.
"The starting forward lineup was Blake, Marshall, Antwan, Dillon and Tony.
"Momentum was not lost when the next set of forwards, Ben, Rob, Aiken and Joey, joined the attack."
Page said Currumbin scored their first and only try in the second half.
"Ben scored the sixth try of the game in the 13th minute, running through the line like a hot knife through butter," she said.
"Kaine put the ball over the try line in the 16th minute. The last try of the game was in the 19th minute by Lachlan after a backline movement, which finished with Dillon passing it to Lachy, who had a lot of room to score."
