BEAUDESERT Pony Club is celebrating a return to competition after a three-month COVID-19 enforced hiatus.
Club spokeswoman Kathy Teese, said riders included 12-year-old Isabella Badger-Docherty who took part in her first official showjumping event hosted by Greenbank Pony Club earlier this month.
"Isabella is working on getting her qualifications for the State Show Jumping Event which Zone 2 is hosting at Beaudesert Showground on September 21 to 24," she said.
"Pony Club Zone 2 comprises of 13 pony clubs including Beaudesert, Fassifern, Rathdowney, Jimboomba, Greenbank, Tamborine, Logan Village, Nerang, Southport, Mudgeeraba and Tallebudgera.
"Other riders that represented Beaudesert Pony Club at the Greenbank Showjumping event were Zara and Claudia Wyatt and Colleen Krahnen."
In the meantime Ms Teese said Beaudesert Pony Club was hosting Jumping Equitation and Showjumping on August 8 and 9.
"There will be many riders aiming to get qualifiers so they can compete at the upcoming state event in September," she said.
"They are so excited to get back out there after three or four months of riding at home or equestrian centres and private lessons.
"Kids naturally socially distance when riding horses, they're having great fun and they are out in the fresh air.
"They learn a lot of self-discipline with horse sports too."
"We're set for some beautiful, clear weather for the event next weekend, which will see up to 100 riders on each day."
Ms Teese said the Beaudesert riders were in with a good chance of qualifying for the State Show Jumping Event as they had kept up their equitation skills during the lull in competition.
The Beaudesert Pony Club Jumping Equitation and Showjumping event will be held from 10am on Saturday, August 8 with jumping equitation and beginner ring.
The program will resume on Sunday, August 9 with showjumping events.
The event will be at the Pony Club behind the Beaudesert Showgrounds, entry from Kookaburra Street.
