Family safe after Laravale house fire

A family of six escaped injury when their home was burnt at Laravale last night.

Four children and their parents got out when the fire started in the roof above a toy room.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said three crews responded to the call at 7.14pm and arrived to find the Christmas Creek Road home alight.

The fire was brought under control by 8.10pm and the crews left the scene in the hands of fire investigators.

The extent of the structural damage was not yet known.

A Queensland Police spokesman said officers at the scene reported no suspicious circumstances around the fire.

"Reports suggest power went out before the residents started to smell smoke," he said.

"Smoke could be seen coming from the roof."

Paramedics were also in attendance but the Queensland Ambulance Service said there had been no need for anyone to be assessed or taken to hospital and the ambulance crew remained on stand-by at the scene.
