BEAUDESERT Police officer in charge Ken Murray has warned residents to make sure their vehicles are locked when leaving them unattended after a spate of thefts from vehicles parked in local streets and car parks.

"We have seen an increase in the number of thefts from vehicles parked in the township," Senior Sergeant Murray said.

"We will be patrolling the streets and leaving one of our "lock it or lose it" notices on cars found to be unsecured.

"We want to make people aware of the problem and remind them to make sure their car is locked before leaving it, even if you are only popping into the shops for a minute.

"The increase in this type of offence has been substantial."

Anyone with information about theft of property from parked cars is asked to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Beaudesert Police on 5519 5566.
