SEQWATER has advised that recreation areas at Seqwater-managed lakes and parks including Moogerah and Wyaralong will be closed from Thursday until further notice.

This includes all land and water-based recreation, including boating, skiing and fishing.

Seqwater said dams and water treatment plants still in operation and bulk water would still be supplied to Urban Utilities and other retail customers.

The assured the community that drinking water is safe, but they had adopted a response to COVID-19 that included restricting access to operational sites.

Safety measures also included cancelling or postponing Seqwater public events, including their community education program.

"There is no evidence that COVID-19 is transmitted by drinking water," they said.

"Existing water treatment and disinfection processes, including the use of chlorine, are effective in protecting water supplies."
