BEAUDESERT residents were woken by a a car explosion in the early hours of this morning near the corner of Albert and Boundary Streets.
A police spokeswoman said about 1.35am the Ford Territory was set alight by a person who then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle heading north on Boundary Street.
The vehicle was parked on the edge of the road, slightly on a vacant piece of land when it was set alight and when emergency services arrived it was engulfed in flames.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene and extinguished the fire, with no injuries reported.
Beaudesert resident Mal Lawrence said he dialled 000 after waking to what sounded like gunfire.
"I live two doors down and the car had been dumped there the day before," he said.
"About 12.30am we heard a car pull up and doors slamming and then about 1.50am there was a massive bang.
"The noise was so close and so loud that at first I thought it was gunshots- like a shotgun blast followed by a couple of pops and then a massive bang.
"The firies got there very quickly and put the fire out, the tyres are still intact so I don't know what they used to cause such an explosion."
The QPS spokeswoman said no charges had been laid and investigations were ongoing.
