LOVERS across the Scenic Rim are celebrating in style with Delightful Flowers and Gifts on Brisbane Street doing a brisk trade this morning.

Store owner Michelle Hawkes said she had been overwhelmed by the number of people who have gone out of their way to buy local on one of the busiest days of the year for florists.

"We have had lots of orders for Valentines Day," she said.

"I ordered more than 1000 roses for the day.

"It has been wonderful how many people have come in and said they wanted to buy their flowers in Beaudesert to support local business."

Ms Hawkes said the store would remain open until 6pm or until stock runs out today.

Men seen coming out of the shop with beautiful bouquets showed that romance is alive and well in the Scenic Rim but it wasn't just the blokes making an effort.

Gleneagle resident Anthea Jennings-Hingston stopped by to purchase a single rainbow rose, which she personally delivered to Lahey and Walker for her partner Tim Walker.
