Beaudesert Borobies second XI lead ladder as Christmas break looms

THE Beaudesert Borobies second XI maintained their perfect record against a strong Jimboomba outfit on the weekend to maintain top spot on the ladder.

An early onslaught from the Jimboomba opening batsman put the Borobies on the back-foot after being sent into field first.

Stuart Groom (2/37) and Jayden Stephan (5/24) led a fight-back to help dismiss Jimboomba for 149 in the 33rd over.

Beaudesert openers Steve Larrescy (36) and Jayden Stephan (37) got the run chase off to a flyer yet again before Lachlan Brennan (43) top scored to help finish the job in the 29th over.

The Borobies first XI were dismissed for just 94 in a disappointing batting display where only Dan Samphier (21) and lower order batsman Alex Darton (27*) managed to get going.

Greenbank took just 25 overs to chase the runs despite Beaudesert claiming six scalps, five of which went to Campbell Stewart (5/24).

In the junior competitions, Beaudesert level 3B took on top of the table Jimboomba, who scored 4/182 after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Jim McClure, Luke Bostock and Adam Davison took a wicket each before Bostock and McClure backed up their bowling efforts with 51* and 49* respectively to help Beaudesert score 6/161 in reply.

Beaudesert level one scored a competitive 3/129 after being sent into bat first thanks to Karl Gwinner, who top scored with 20.

Despite a tidy fielding display from Beaudesert, Kuraby scored 8/144 in reply with Joe Harkin (3/14), Jett Bright (2/12) and Matthew Riddle (2/13) the pick of the Beaudesert bowlers.
