RATHDOWNEY turned up on Sunday despite the heat and smoke to host their country markets and watch pony club members take their final shot at equestrian glory for 2019.
While adults browsed the market stalls or enjoyed a breakfast burger and a cuppa from the Memorial Grounds canteen, children proudly showed their skills in the arena.
The Rathdowney Pony Club chief instructor Jo Downes said there were 25 members competing on the day, ranging in age from four to adult and all were keen to enjoy the day in spite of the smoky haze that blanketed the town all day.
"This is our last rally of the year and it provides an opportunity for the kids who don't go out much to get a ribbon," she said.
"This is an event we hold every year."
