Boonah police plead for vigilance in face of Scenic Rim bushfires

BOONAH police have asked that residents remain on alert while firefighters work around the clock to keep people and property safe.

A police spokesman said over the past week the Scenic Rim had seen fires burning around Clumber and Croftby as well as Tarome.

"A fire incident command has been established in the Boonah Showgrounds," he said.

"Due to the efforts of QFES and rural volunteers the fires have been contained into bushland at this time.

"We have been extremely lucky to have no loss of property or life thanks to the efforts of these people."

The spokesman also thanked the volunteers who had given up their time to help with catering for the people fighting the fires.

"As the fires continue to burn with no rain forecast in the coming week and conditions to remain hot and dry, we request all residents to remain vigilant and be prepared for all situations," he said.

"If you are requested to leave your home, please comply with the directions of emergency services personnel."
