Beaudesert State High School to showcase artistic talent at The Centre

BEAUDESERT State High School will be holding its 2019 Arts Night on November 8 at The Centre Beaudesert.

The evening will begin at 5.30pm with an art exhibition in The Centre Gallery.

Event co-ordinator Nicole Skerman said some of the entries from the 2019 Artwaves exhibition would be on display along with the best artwork from across the school.

"The junior and senior dance teams, who both competed at the Logan and Gold Coast Eisteddfods, will be performing contemporary and musical dance pieces, as well as a combined piece towards the end of the evening," she said.

"The combined piece will depict the evolution of dance from the 1920s to the present day.

"Our amazing music students including the Stoned Wings rock band, concert and stage bands, string ensemble and string sensations will be heard throughout the night.

"Many students from the 2019 and 2020 student leadership teams are part of the school instrumental program."

The school's student arts ambassadors Harper Tinsley, Brooklyn-Jade Senhenn, Hannah Wilson and Joanne Pacey said they were looking forward to hosting the event an serving as emcees on the night.

"From 5.30pm we will be serving drinks and canapes and displaying art works from all our students," Ms Wilson said.

"From 6.30pm we will have film, dance and drama and also music from Stoned Wings and other bands.

"Tickets are available for $10 at the box office or online at liveatthecentre.com.au."

Ms Skerman said drama performances would include a junior improv group who were part of the Goat Track Theatre program this year, a year 10 comedy performance and scenes from Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.

"On screen will be some of the experimental films, documentaries and genre films from the media department," she said.

"The students and staff at Beaudesert High devote many hours of their own time to planning this event, and for several students it is the highlight of their school year."
