Firefighters extinguish car and grass fire at Tamborine

EMERGENCY Services responded to reports of a car on fire at Tamborine about 11.30 this morning.

A spokeswoman for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said four crews arrived at the scene on Pine Forest Way near Waterford Tamborine Road at 11.48am to find an area of bush and a car alight.

The spokeswoman said firefighters contained the bush fire by 11.56am and had extinguished the car fire by 12.30pm.

Three crews remain at the scene to dampen down the area.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers responded to reports of a car on fire, which was perhaps a stolen vehicle, at 11.31am.

He said investigation would continue and appealed to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area or had dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
