TAMBORINE Mountain Botanic Gardens volunteers collected more than $1000 for the local State Emergency Services during the recent Springtime on the Mountain open gardens festival.

The volunteers gathered at the Gardens last week to meet representatives of the SES and present a cheque for $1086.75.

Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens President Denby Browning said the funds were collected from the generous public at the Gardens' gate over two days of the festival.

"The fund-raising represents the wonderful generosity of the people of Tamborine Mountain and beyond," he said.

"We decided to collect on behalf of the SES after their extraordinary work during the terrible bushfires that did so much damage and threatened our entire region."

The cheque was presented to Tamborine Mountain SES group leader, Peter Franklin, Scenic Rim SES local controller Danni Bull and south-east region SES manager Wayne Hepple.
