CELEBRATING the 75th year on Boonah's High Street, Maynards Store remains one of the oldest businesses in town.
A family legacy in the making, Maynards was opened in October 1944 by John (Jack) and Ethel Maynard.
Eldest son John soon became a partner and, when his father passed away in 1956, John continued the partnership with his mother until he retired in 1985, handing over the reins to his younger brother Graham and his wife Maureen.
In 2004, their youngest son Greg, his wife Kirsty and eldest son Tony and his wife Kim joined in ownership of the store.

Today, the shop is proudly operated by Greg Maynard and his extended family, the shop stocks everything from manchester and material to fashion and footwear.
"We're very unique in that we still run things the 'old-fashioned way," Greg said.
"We stock a lot of items that people often say are hard to find in the shops in the city."
Greg began his career at the shop, leaving school at 15 to attend a Brisbane-based retail course in order to learn more about the trade.
"The course ran for nine months and I have been here ever since," he said, adding his father also worked part time in the shop before coming on full time after Greg's grandfather passed away.
"I think it's amazing that my grandfather had the foresight to begin the business and it's amazing to see how far we've come." Greg said the continued support of the local community was greatly appreciated.
"The customers in our country towns are so nice and all the businesses help each other," Greg said, adding there was an unspoken agreement among fellow Boonah retailers. "We all try and work together in the town so nobody is stepping on one another's toes."
With high quality customer service, Maynards Store has retained six floor staff to ensure that old fashioned service has remained at the forefront of the business.
"A lot of people aren't used to that type of service anymore but we like to be able to engage with our customers and show them any options that we may have available - it gives us great satisfaction to know they are purchasing exactly what they need."
With his 12-year-old son Bryce trying his hand in the shop after school, Greg said it would be great to see a fourth generation take over the shop.
"I will leave it up to him to decide what he wants - it's very special to work with your family and have them around you to support you."
The Maynard family will be celebrating their 75th year in retail this year with a very special four-day sale from October 17-20 with the community encouraged to join in the festivities.
