BEAUDESERT RSL Sub Branch are urgently seeking volunteers to help drive patients to hospitals and specialist appointments as part of their community transport service.
Volunteers will pick-up patients from both sides of the Mount Lindesay Highway corridor as well as those residing at Yarrabilba and Tamborine Mountain and take them to hospitals at Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Springfield and Gold Coast on behalf of the Queensland Ambulance Service.
Beaudesert RSL Sub Branch secretary Joanne Crocker said drivers could choose the days and times they wanted to volunteer, but two to four drivers were required from Monday to Friday.
"The volunteers can donate however much time they feel they are comfortable with donating," she said.
"We often run four vehicles a day and we do that five days a week so it takes a lot to keep up enough volunteers."
Ms Crocker said the current volunteer group enjoyed interacting with the patients on their commute.
"They know they are doing an essential service for their community and they get to know the patients that need to be transported regularly," she said.
Ms Crocker said full training would be provided but volunteers needed to hold an open license and have a clean driving record.
To become a volunteer, contact the Beaudesert RSL Sub Branch office on 5541 3720 from 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday.
