Bushfires are burning at Clagiraba, Sarabah and the Numinbah Valley


Police have confirmed an evacuation is under way of tourists at O'Reilly's.

The blaze is part of the Sarabah bushfire that has been burning in mountainous country since last week.


O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat staff have confirmed that the resort will be evacuated.

The process has begun but staff have not been informed how far away the fire is.

"All we know is that we have been given directions to evacuate," she said.

UPDATE 2.35pm:

O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat is being evacuated in the face of fire.

Details are scanty, but the Beaudesert Times understands that police want the premises on Lamington National Park Road vacated.

It is not clear how many guests are at the resort.

QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services have instructed residents near Clagiraba, Sarabah and Numinbah Valley to stay informed about bushfires.

A fire burning near Gerara Court and Clagiraba Road is travelling in a north-easterly direction towards Mungindie Court, Mount Nathan.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews say the fire poses no threat to property at this time.

Firefighters have contained the blaze and will work to strengthen containment lines throughout the afternoon

QFES have also advised that a fire is burning south of Sarabah Road in Lamington National Park.

A bushfire burning in Binna Burra is travelling in a north easterly direction towards Nerang Murwillumbah Road, Numinbah Valley.

People in the areas are expected to be affected by smoke, reducing visibility and air quality.

QFES said properties were not under direct threat at this time.

Residents were urged to keep up to date via their local radio station, the Rural Fire Service website or the QFES Facebook or Twitter pages.

They should also decide what actions to take if the situation changed.
