FRESH from winning the Most Outstanding Region award at the prestigious delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards, the Scenic Rim is celebrating the success of local business operators, producers and growers.

Mayor Greg Christensen said that recent awards and recognition were a testament to the wide range of highly innovative and high performing businesses across the Scenic Rim.

"We should all be celebrating the success, not only of Scenic Rim which has been recognised as Australia's leading region for authentic local food, but also Summer Land Camels, Hobbs Building & Interiors and Kalbar Spar Express whose recent wins have also raised the profile of our region," he said.

Summer Land Camels, the largest commercial camel dairy and farming operation outside the Middle East, was recently announced the sole Queensland company to be included on Amazon Launchpad, which helps Australian entrepreneurs reach new global markets by showcasing their innovative products to millions of customers.

"Following their win for Excellence in Agriculture at the 2019 Scenic Rim Business Excellence Awards earlier this year, it is a pleasure to be able to congratulate Jeff, Paul and the team at Summer Land Camels on this latest achievement," Cr Christensen said.

"Since they commenced operations they have shown relentless passion and commitment to rapidly growing a business and doing this with a commitment to improving people's health and well-being through their milk and skincare products.

"With the Scenic Rim region increasingly recognised for its authentic local food movement, operator collaboration and character-filled experiences, the achievement of Summer Land Camels is another signpost to a new era where innovation and ingenuity meet authentic farming to the benefit of human well-being."

Luke and Nikki Hobbs, whose Scenic Rim custom-build construction firm Hobbs Building & Interiors received the Excellence in Trades and Construction Award at the 2019 Scenic Rim Business Excellence Awards, received recognition in a range of categories in the Master Builders Queensland Gold Coast 2019 Construction Awards this month.

Luke Hobbs received an individual award as a Rising Star and the Canungra-based company which specialises in the construction of steel-frame eco-friendly residential and commercial buildings received awards for Best Use of Sloping Sites, for a home on Tamborine Mountain, and the award for Individual Home $251,000 to $350,000 for a project at Mundoolun.

"This is an example of a switched-on professional couple, who could easily have been lured to other places, bringing their passion for excellence to our wonderful region," Cr Christensen said.

"Their focus on quality is matched by their thoughtful design which is sensitive to the uniqueness of the Scenic Rim."

Kalbar Spar Express has also won two national awards at the grocery retailer's annual trade show and Gala Awards held on the Gold Coast, the hotly-contested Spar Express Store of the Year 2019 and the Spar Express Grocery Excellence Award 2019.

"It's great to see these awards for one of our boutique yet but high performing newcomers to the region," Cr Christensen said.

"I have shopped there myself and appreciated the friendliness and exceptional customer service that epitomises our community."
