MAYOR Greg Christensen joined a contingent of Scenic Rim residents who attended the premier of a new television show called Welcome to Wrigleton last week.

The mockumentary follows the trials and tribulations of a small, regional town and its hapless mayor, Clint Wrigleton, whose forefathers founded the town for its worm farming potential.

The pilot episode was filmed in and around Rathdowney last month and made its on-screen debut at Brisbane's New Farm Cinemas on August 8.

The show's director, Joel Fleming said he was pleased to see Cr Christensen among several familiar Scenic Rim faces, some of whom would appear in the show.

"The mayor had a great time hanging out with Michael Cuckson (who plays the mayor of Wrigleton)," he said.

"There were plenty of laughs on the night and the feedback from surveys has been overwhelmingly positive.

"In the meantime we have submitted the project to the ABC and SBS and await their response."

Mr Fleming said the Scenic Rim had been a setting for the show's fictional town of Wrigleton.

"We had such a great time filming in Rathdowney," he said.

"The people there are amazing, they were so accommodating and got us anything we needed, even jumping in as extras in the pub scene.

"We would love to come back and film the whole series in Rathdowney."

Mr Fleming said a second screening of the episode was planned, to accommodate locals who were unable to attend the premier.

"We are hoping to screen it again at The Centre some time in the near future," he said.
