Beaudesert welcomes Naidoc Week with a party in the park

MUNUNJALI Housing and Development Company helped the Beaudesert community kick off NAIDOC Week with a family fun day in Jubilee Park yesterday.

This year's theme for NAIDOC is Voice, Treaty, Truth described was the key elements for reform.

The event began with a traditional smoking ceremony, a welcome to country and addresses from community leaders including Scenic Rim councillor Michael Enright, who thanked the Aboriginal community for their significant contribution to the town.

The park remained packed for the duration of the event as residents enjoyed stories and traditional dance performed by Mununjali locals as well as Torres Strait Islander Badu Stories dance team from Dreamworld's Pearling Show.

The event featured country markets, with a variety of activities for the kids including a jumping castle, climbing wall and petting zoo.
