BLACK Dragon Kai Combat Systems at Beaudesert and Jimboomba, run by Geordie Lavers-McBain, is offering free training for the months of June or July for kids who have been affected by bullying.

Black Dragon Kai instructor Latishna Harris said this was the first year the schools had joined with the international martial arts community in their annual campaign to address the issue of bullying and try to help both bullies and the bullied.

"Classes start from kindy all the way to adult," she said.

"I teach the Little Dragons, kindy / prep kids who learn co-ordination, team building and confidence.

"We teach kids to use their voices, encourage them to use their words, stand tall and say 'stop' loud and clear."

Ms Harris said people interested in joining the classes could call 1800 111 936

Alternatively they could drop into 49 Hart Street in Beaudesert from 4pm on weekdays and 8am on Saturday - and those troubled by bullying would receive free training for the month.

For Jimboomba, drop in any time from 3.30pm on weekdays or 8am on Saturday.

"The classes are all about respect and bettering yourself," Ms Harris said.

Self defence programs have proved to reduce aggressive behaviour, especially in boys, by teaching empathy, self-control, and peaceful conflict resolution.
