COMPETITION was fierce as Bev Bryan faced Joanne Dent in the ladies finals at Beaudesert Bowls Club today.

The winner was first to 25, with Ms Bryan emerging victorious after four rounds and Ms Dent nipping at her heels with a score of 19.

Both ladies agreed the other was a worthy opponent.

"I would like to congratulate Bev for a well-deserved win," Ms Dent said.

Ms Bryan said it was the first time she had won the ladies singles although she had been runner-up several times.

"Before now I was always the bridesmaid, never the bride, so it feels great to finally win it," she said.

Next Thursday Beaudesert Bowls Club will host pink bowls as their contribution to Australia's Biggest Morning Tea to raise funds for the Cancer Council.
