SONGWRITER and country singer Kim Wright is coming to Beaudesert this weekend to take his place on the main stage for the Rock N Country Festival at Jubilee Park.

Mr Wright, who had a hit run on iTunes with his debut single Man of the House last year, said he was looking forward to the event.

"I love Beauy, and the festival is going to be a full day of family fun," he said.

"There will be non-stop entertainment by performers including myself, Keith Dunn and Bagman.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing him."

Mr Wright said his first single was written in Tamworth last year and made it into the iTunes top 10.

"I wrote the song with the legendary Allan Caswell and it was released in June last year," he said.

"That three weeks in Tamworth was the first big stint I had away from my kids, who are aged 8 and 10, and it was a bit painful.

"Before I left, I pulled my boy aside and told him he was the man of the house and I wanted him to look after the girls, so that's where Man of the House came from."

The Ipswich-based singer had another hit in March when he released his single This Old Bar, which also made the top 10.

"It's a bit of a comical story about calling in sick to work, lying to your wife and going to the pub," he said.

"I wrote it with a mate of mine (Liam Kennedy-Clark) and performed it at the Gympie Muster.

"That was the first time my wife had heard the song so it was a bit of a surprise to her but it got a very good response with airplay."

Mr Wright said he would be releasing an EP this year but his songs were available on all digital platforms and he was looking forward to performing them live for the Beaudesert audience.

"I will be on stage for the Rock N Country Festival about 10.30am on Saturday," he said.

"So if you're going to be throwing anything at me, throw either bottles or cans because they are worth 10c each and that's how I can make some money."
