After a six-week break, racing returns to Aquis Beaudesert for a seven-race card on Thursday.
The event kicks off a busy four month period at the track, with the ANZAC Day Cup, Beaudesert Cup and Hibernian Raceday all approaching.
In one of the driest starts to the year since the racecourse opened in 1879, track manager Rory Hanrahan has put in countless hours to ensure that the surface is ready to race after four meetings in six weeks in December and January.
Early nominations indicate that the club will be in for a busy day, with trainers from all areas of south-east Queensland set to compete for over $115,000 in prizemoney.
All bars and catering facilities will be in operation, with Cuppa-licious serving the best coffee in town, Fruit Delights delivering delicious smoothies and ice-cream, and crowd favourites Nev and Carol Neale rolling out their new burger menu for the first time.
After Thursday's meeting the track will have over a month off before the annual ANZAC Day meeting.
The Beaudesert RSL Sub Branch is again sponsoring the ANZAC Cup, and racing manager James Cable is delighted to have them supporting the day.
“The club and the sub branch have a long history around this raceday,” Cable said.
“Our main aim of the ANZAC day races is to supply the community with an event that displays the local ANZAC spirit and enables us to remember our diggers for the sacrifice they made for all of us to enjoy days like this."
Shuttle buses will be running between the track and town throughout the day, and a free sausage sizzle will be available from 11.30am to 12.30pm with all bar facilities open from 1pm.
Raceday sponsorships and packages are still available, for any further info please call Racing Manager James Cable on 0439 559 991 or send him and email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
