Police investigate armed robbery at Aratula service station

POLICE INVESTIGATE: A thief wearing a balaclava and brandishing a piece of wood robbed the service station at Aratula on Friday.

POLICE INVESTIGATE: A thief wearing a balaclava and brandishing a piece of wood robbed the service station at Aratula on Friday.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Puma Service Station on the Cunningham Highway at Aratula shortly after 3am on February 15.

A police spokesman said a man with his face covered entered the service station, threatened the employee with a piece of wood and demanded money before running from the store with cash from the till.

He said a police dog tracked the offender to Phillip Street where it is believed he had a vehicle waiting.

The man is described as Caucasian, 180cm tall, medium build and wearing light coloured shorts and a black t-shirt covering an orange high-visibility polo shirt.

Boonah Police are asking the public to check security vision of the offender.

Police are urging any locals who observed a vehicle in the Phillip Street area around that time to contact Senior Constable Edbrooke at the Boonah station on 5463 3999.
