Locals took part in an Eat Well, Live Well Cooking Workshop today with Boonah Dietitian and PhD student Megan Chrichton.
The group learned how to maximise the nutritional value of food, as well as some simple, cheap and tasty but nutritious dishes, with Ms Chrichton sharing a few of her own special recipes.
On the menu was beef quesadilla, guacamole, Mexican bean dip, ginger bites and healthy no bake muesli bars.
Ms Chrichton said she was pleased with the turnout and the session had run smoothly.
“I try to make them relaxed, so everyone feels comfortable to ask questions,” she said.
“It’s all quick and easy stuff to make.”
Ms Chrichton said the Scenic Rim Regional Council Be Healthy and Active Program was extremely beneficial for the community.
“It is amazing,” she said.
“It’s so good and every year it keeps getting better.
“It is working to engage the community in a range of low-cost activities that aren’t often offered.”
Ms Chrichton will hold sessions in eight locations across the Scenic Rim during school term one, followed by a second at those same destinations in term two.
The next workshop is to be held at the Kooralbyn Community Centre on Monday from 9-11am.
Cost is $5.
