Scorching conditions failed to deter hundreds who made the most of their day off work at Aquis Beaudesert’s Australia Day Public Holiday Raceday. Racing manager James Cable said a full car park and betting ring were sure signs that the event had been well-received by locals and visitors alike, and the Beaudesert Race Club was moving in the right direction. Cable said a strong contingent of trainers led by Eagle farm’s Chris Munce had made the trip down from Brisbane to take on names such as Stewart Kendrick from the Sunshine Coast, and a bevy of locals. Attendees kept the fluids up and wherever possible they relaxed in the shade savouring the sounds of musician Jeremy Sheppard. The kids enjoyed face painting and a range of Aussie activities, including the thong throwing contest.
