SINGER Cali J spent the weekend in the Scenic Rim with a film crew to create a music video at Boyland and Kooralbyn.
The video was for the single Ride from the former Kooralbyn resident’s album due for release in April.
The former Kooralbyn resident is mother to two daughters aged six and eight and said she was excited to be going on tour at the end of next month, with performances booked for Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and the Philippines.
“I’ve been involved in music since I was nine years old and started in the Australian Youth Choir,” she said.
“I’ve always known what I wanted to do, so after a bit of a break I was happy to get back to it about 12 months ago.
“I’ve been working on the album for about 9 months.
“I went through a massive transition after being in a violent relationship and this music is a means of healing for me.
“Hopefully it will provide healing for others as well.”

Cali J said she writes all her own material and the latest single was about tainted love.
“It’s about two people who feel they want to be together but uncontrollable elements are pulling them apart,” she said.
The singer grew up in a youth home as a ward of the state from the age of 14 and said she had a soft spot for young people.
When she’s not recording or performing live, Cali J is involved with providing hip hop workshops for youth with her partner, Jameson Mackenzie.
“We love working with kids, they have a great way of putting down what they feel,” she said.
“We love empowering them to express themselves in a positive way.”
Scenes for the Ride video were shot at the Ramada Resort and Black Opal Friesians ahead of the performer’s tour of Australia and the Philippines starting in February.
