STATE Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause is encouraging the community to nominate a remarkable Queenslander for the annual Queensland Greats Awards.
Nominations are now open and winners will be announced at a ceremony in Brisbane on or around Queensland Day, June 6 and commemorated with a plaque displayed at Roma Street Parkland, Brisbane.
Last year’s winners included the St Vincent de Paul Society, Triple P Parenting founder Professor Matthew Sanders, former Olympic baseball player David Nilsson and a posthumous award for former Winton mayor Graham ‘Butch’ Lenton.
Mr Krause said the Queensland Greats Awards recognised the efforts and achievements of remarkable individuals and institutions for their invaluable contribution to the history and development of our great state.
“Groups and individuals can be nominated for the Awards and nominations close on 22 February,” he said.
