Bushfire alert for Wyaralong

QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services and Seqwater crews are on scene at a bushfire burning near Beaudesert Boonah Road near Old Beaudesert Road, Wyaralong.

A QFES spokesman said fire crews had been on the job since 9.40am today and expected to remain on scene overnight and tomorrow.

He said there were currently two QFES crews on scene with a number of support personnel providing assistance.

The spokesman said the fire had not yet been contained but firefighters were using machinery to create containment lines and were also conducting back burning in the area.

QFES said there was threat to property at this time and firefighters would continue to monitor the fire.

Smoke may affect Wyaralong and surrounds.

If affected, residents are asked to close windows and doors.

Those suffering from a respiratory condition should keep their medications close by.

Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
