RED Rooster has opened its doors to customers in Beaudesert as the chicken franchise moved into the site at Oakland Estate previously occupied by Brodies.

Brodies Chicken closed suddenly last month under acrimonious circumstances, with the landlord saying it was over a disagreement about rent payments.

Red Rooster franchisee Neil McCosker was at the store at lunch time today as the store opened for a trial run and staff training.

“We have had a good reception here so far,” Mr McCosker said.

“Everywhere we go, people are happy the store is opening.”

He said Red Rooster Beaudesert would employ at least 25 staff.

“We have four or five staff members who used to work at Brodies and the rest are locals too,” he said.

Mr McCosker said the store operated from 9am until 2pm today ahead of its official opening tomorrow.

“Tomorrow we will be open from 9am to 9pm,” he said.
