A healthy crowd is building at the Beaudesert RSL on William Street ahead of this afternoon’s race that stops the nation.
The RSL is hosting a Melbourne Cup luncheon, with patrons encouraged to get kitted up and embrace the spirit of the day.
Prizes are being awarded for the best dressed male and female.
Judge Wanita Henricues said she would be looking for style, class and complete matching outfits.
“They have got to have a fascinator or a hat and the dress matching,” she said.
Punters can also try their luck in the RSL’s sweep.
