AN ENTHRALLED audience turned up to The Centre Beaudesert today for a nostalgic trip down musical memory lane as multi-award winning musical performer Nadia Sunde presented her concert simply titled 1971.
Sunde performed tunes from Carole King, Marvin Gaye, Joni Mitchell, The Temptations, Harry Nilsson, Elton John, Bill Withers, John Denver, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and more.
The concert also featured accomplished band members Peta Leigh Wilson, Stewart Barry and Tim Sladden.
Sunde won the International Song Writing Competition Award in 2010, the Australasian Performing Rights Association Australian Queensland Performance of the Year Award in 2013, the Queensland Music Award in 2013 and the QCA Gold Coast Industry Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in 2014.
The artist said she always enjoyed performing in Beaudesert.
“I have performed here several times and it’s always good,” she said.
“I love the Scenic Rim, the people are arty and interesting and they are very supportive of the arts.
Asked why she chose 1971 for her concert title, Sunde said it had been a good year for music.
“It was a year of epic proportions when it comes to rock and popular music,” she said.
“The number of albums from 1971 that we still listen to now is too big to be ignored.”
The finale was a song from 1977, the next offering from Sunde and her band The Polyester Flairs.
“Another really big year,” she said.
“We would love to come back to Beaudesert.”
