EMERGENCY services responded to reports of a car on fire near Thunderbird Park on Tamborine Mountain in the early hours of this morning.
A spokesman for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said two fire trucks and a crew from the Tamborine Mountain Rural Fire Brigade were sent to the scene on Tamborine Mountain Road.
“The vehicle was well alight when they got there,” he said.
“Firefighters remained until 1.20am after making the scene safe and leaving it in the hands of the Queensland Police Service.”
A QPS spokesman said occupants of the vehicle were accounted for and uninjured.
“It seems the occupants noticed smoke and pulled over safely before the car caught fire,” he said.
“It was not the result of an accident, there were no injuries and the car was not a stolen vehicle.
“The cause of the fire appeared to be mechanical.”
Paramedics were also in attendance but Queensland Ambulance reports that nobody required assessment, treatment or transportation as a result of the incident.
