The combined Boonah Rathdowney bowls team continued its stellar debut season in Cunningham District Pennants Bowls on Saturday, upsetting competition frontrunner Booval Swifts.

With the Boonah green in exceptional condition and playing magnificently, Boonah Rathdowney dominated their more fancied opponents to come away with a rare three-rink win.

Rathdowney Memorial Bowls Club president Dot Cooke said the joint outfit didn’t expect to beat the experienced lineup from Ipswich but was intent on competing.

“We were determined to give it our best shot and we did it brilliantly,” she said.

“It was very much a team effort.

“Everybody did the best they could possibly do for us”

Mrs Cooke said the composite side, which now sits in second on the table after three rounds, is pleased with its progress.

“We are really happy,” she said.

“For our first time in pennants, in a new format, it is very exciting for our members.”

This Saturday Boonah Rathdowney will hope to extend its winning streak when it takes on Yeronga at Rathdowney in round four.
