UNIVERSITY of the Third Age held a Christmas in July celebration at the Saint Bernard’s Hotel on Friday.
Beaudesert U3A president Andy Fechner said 40 members were in attendance at the Christmas lunch.
‘It was a lovely day, beautiful weather and we enjoyed lunch in a room with a picture window overlooking the valley,” he said.
‘Lunch was baked ham and turkey with roasted vegetables and cranberry sauce followed by sticky date pudding and ice cream or key lime tart with raspberry sorbet.
“The tables were decorated with Christmas bonbons and painted pine cones, all very Christmas-y.”
Mr Fechner said U3A Beaudesert was a vibrant group with more than 200 active members and more than 20 activities a week.
“The Christmas in July event was on of our regular monthly social events,” he said.
“We generally meet for lunch on the third Friday of every month.
“This event was also a celebration for one of our members, Kirtsey Arthy, who had her 70th birthday on Friday.”
Mr Fechner said U3A was mostly for people aged over 50 and they always welcomed new members.
