THE Queensland Writers Centre, together with Createplace, Storytelling and Arts for Health, is offering free workshops in poetry, life writing, songwriting and trans-media storytelling at the Vonda Youngman Community Centre on Tamborine Mountain.
There will be two half-day workshops starting this Sunday and concluding on July 29 from 9.30am till 12.30pm.
The workshops will culminate in a showcase of each writer’s work on August 4.
Createplace director Leanne Dodd says the Write On! Scenic Rim program will affirm and celebrate individuals and the community.
“This is a rare opportunity to share personal experiences through your choice of narrative form,” Ms Dodd said.
“Write On! will bring together people of different ages, from different backgrounds.
“When individuals share their unique stories, the community gets to reflect on its common ground as well as its diversity.’
Queensland Writers Centre chief executive Lori-Jay Ellis agreed.
“Creative story-telling can enhance individual well-being and community resilience. It’s also a lot of fun.”
Write On! Scenic Rim is funded under the Queensland Government’s We Are Queensland program, which supports local communities to share and celebrate their stories.
Registration has been extended, so find out more at qldwriters.org.au/writeon/ or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
