On Saturday June 7, the joint Boonah Rathdowney squad took on Wellers Hill Bowls Club in round two of the Cunningham District Pennants.

All players performed admirably but the side was narrowly defeated by one shot.

“We were very happy to push them that far,” Mrs Cooke said.

“We’re pleased with the outcome.

“They’re a metropolitan team, so there is some very good bowlers among them.”

At this early stage of the season, Boonah Rathdowney are sitting comfortably in the top three on the ladder.

“It’s a good position to be in,” Mrs Cooke said.

This Saturday, the outfit will meet first-placed Booval Swifts from Ipswich at Boonah.

Boonah Rathdowney will need to make the most of its home ground advantage if it’s to upset the competition heavyweights.
