WITH the state budget being handed down today, Scenic Rim MP Jon Krause said roads needed to be a priority for the district.

Mr Krause said the Mount Lindesay Highway needed a significant allocation of funds across the next three years.

“Congestion is a major issue for people who travel this road every day and only a full, whole-hearted commitment of funds from the state government will fix this,” he said.

Mr Krause said Beaudesert-Nerang Road at Tabragalba and Boonah-Beaudesert and Boonah-Rathdowney roads, the Mount Lindesay Highway south of Beaudesert and the gravel section of Beaudesert-Nerang Road at Wonglepong also needed major work done.

“The state of some of these roads is shocking, it wouldn’t be tolerated in Brisbane or on the Gold Coast…,” he said.

The Coulson Crossing of the Teviot Brook towards Boonah was also on Mr Krause’s list as it regularly floods after only moderate rainfall, causing the Scenic Rim to be split in two for up to a day at a time.

He has also lobbied the Government to fund the State’s 50 per cent share of the cost of upgrading the Amberley Interchange on the Cunningham Highway.
