Mount Barney Lodge offers more than 50 activities, with a host designed for children as part of its school holiday adventure program this June/July.
Three favourites are kids night adventure ($25, ages five to 14), bush kids ($15, ages five to 14) and light your fire (cost $20). In bush kids, children can learn how to build eco boats from natural materials and race them on the water.
Additionally, to coincide with the Scenic Rim’s eat local week, there will be five bushtucker tracker activities held in the first week of the holidays. On bushtucker tracker ($20, ages eight to 14), children learn how to find bushtucker foods that are safe and tasty to eat. They are also taught about looking out for wildlife through their various signs. There is also stealth tracker ($20, ages eight to 14) where children can learn the art of camouflage and how to move undetected in the bush.
Additional activities include a rock climb suited to students aged over 10 years ($60 per person), lantern construction ($15, ages five to 13) and bush buddies ($10, all ages) where children can touch and interact with native animals including pythons, gliders, lizards and turtles.
Older students and adults have some adventure options too, with a Mount Maroon and Mount Barney expeditions and several rockclimbing sessions. Activities suit day trippers, but many choose to stay.
