The Beaudesert RSL sub branch service bus has been donated to the Gold Coast Trades college where it will be used for students to practise their mechanical trade.

The Ford Transit Vehicle was donated to the RSL sub branch from the ambulance. In 2017, it was decided not to have the gear box repaired and instead to donate it for parts.

President Errol Gullfoyle said the 10-seater bus was used by the sub branch patient transport to hospitals in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Ipswich, the same as the ambulance.

“When it became unserviceable and beyond economical repair, we de-registered it and the trades college was delighted to accept it.  Previously we have given our vehicles to Beaudesert High School for students to use in the same fashion,” Mr Gullfoyle said.

Mr Gullfoyle said a replacement Toyota van had been donated by a Veresdale man, this one with a wheelchair facility. The van joins a fleet of four, all driven by volunteer drivers.
