NOMINATIONS are open for the 2018 Miss Beaudesert Showgirl competition.

Beaudesert Show Society committee spokesperson Rhiannon Taylor said entry forms could be obtained by calling or sending a text message to 0409727616 and providing an email address.

She said the winner of the competition would be the face of the Beaudesert Show.

“This means being at the Beaudesert Show and circulating to meet and greet visitors,” she said.

“Miss Beaudesert Showgirl also attends the carcasse competition before the actual show to hand out ribbons for all classes of cattle.

“After the show, the winner will automatically be in the sub-chamber competition for the south-east region and have the opportunity to represent the region in the state competition held at the Ekka.

“The 2016 Miss Beaudesert Showgirl Kaitlyn Schultz went on to win the state title.”

Ms Taylor said being Miss Beaudesert Showgirl allows young women to build confidence and extend their social network.

“It’s also a lot of fun,” she said.

Once all nominations are in, the winner will be announced at the Kerry Dance on June 23 at the Kerry Hall.

“Dancing is not part of the judging process but entrants are encouraged to join in on the fun,” Ms Taylor said.

“Entry to the dance is $10 per person and entry for Miss Beaudesert Showgirl competition is free.”

The competition is open to Australian born or naturalised women aged 18 to 28 who have never been married or had children.
